Ok so I've been married for almost two years, but before that i was a submissive/slave for my previous master for 3 years. It is something i have always been happy with/enjoyed. The problem I am having now is that my husband is not the type for the master slave relationship. Even talking about using handcuffs on me, he says he isnt sure he would do it. So my dilemna now is that I have the urge to be dominated but it hasnt been fulfilled in over 2 years. I need a way to get it out but i dont know what to do.....can someone please help?

A friend was just collared.. not to a Dom, but to serve

A friend of mine has recently been collared. She was not collared by a lover or a Dom. She has become the student to a Domme-friend at an organization. She will be in service to the organization and to people who attend there. She will also be under the personal mentoring of this Domme, who will train her in the finer points of being a respectful and classy submissive.... "a more demure slut," as she put it. LOL
As I thought about it, under the right circumstances for the specific student, this is a great way of being collared.

Etiquette and protocol are thought by many to be the foundation of a strong power exchange dynamic. Certainly these concepts are some of the most talked about (and in some cases, most confusing) topics in the BDSM community. In this class we will attempt to depart from the "one true wayism" that often plagues discussions of protocol and etiquette and explore the practical purposes behind their theory and use. This class aims to assist attendees in finding a system of etiquette and protocol that works for them, and to give guidance in how to navigate interactions with others in protocol intensive settings.

slave or switch

A few months ago my Master decided that with all the training i have received i have a solid foundation of who i am as a slave. Then the bottom fell out from under me He told me to top.

Alot of people are confused that i am now a topping slave. T/they view me as a switch. i pose this to those who ever thought of this...if a person such as myself trains other slaves and "tops" them because they are ordered to do so does that change them?

it is my personal view, of course because i know my heart, that there is nothing inside of me that is a top however i am fairly decent at topping and training other submissives because i know it is my Masters desire that i do so.

my personal belief is that following orders to top does not make one so nor does it make them a switch. i wonder what is the general consensus on this rather bizarre scenario.

(note: my Master is always Top and never is topped by A/anyone) He just prefers that i learn to delegate and knows that i have the ability to do this for others and with Him.

In this class we will dispel the myths surrounding 10 areas of consensual slavery. We will examine from a slave’s point of view these and other common misconceptions, how to avoid them, and what a slave can expect from an M/s relationship in the real world. This class is taught by a real slave living a real life with a real Owner and is geared towards other slaves who seek to thrive in their M/s dynamics. Now why would you think you would lose your competence? If you are competent now, then there is no reason for that to change. If anything, a good Master/Mistress would guide you to being an even more competent person than you are now. That's what I believe and I think I'm not alone on that.

"I can't imagine not being a slave at least some of the time, yet I can't see how to make it work."

I hope others agree with me on this--slaveheart isn't something that you turn off and on. It's part of who you are. You may not always belong to someone as a slave, but it's very likely that if you have recognized this in yourself then it will always be there. You are an individual with a personality. Someone wouldn't pick you as their slave (or even friend) if your personality wasn't something they liked. Being a slave is really difficult, but not difficult. It does require a lot of focus and introspection but if you have the slaveheart--it's there.

"Maybe it's just because of my inexperienced partner, who's not sure how much of a slave he wants. He wants it, but he doesn't want it. It's confusing for me! I'm hoping we'll settle down into some mutually satisfying resting place."

That's what talking and communicating is all about. These kinds of relationships won't work without communication. You will see that in various M/s or BDSM groups because we all talk about it a LOT. If you don't find the "mutual resting place" then perhaps you aren't meant to be with this person. I know that for me, there are a LOT of Masters out there that simply wouldn't have worked for me. Having many mutual interests, ethics and desires is a big deal to make it work out--for any relationship. Sounds like you have time to experiment with this, but don't ever feel stuck.

"I'm impressed by how well the slaves/subs in this tribe can talk about themselves without getting mixed up and confused. How do you remember who you are? Is your sense of self intact?"

Way back when I was looking for a Master one of my main concerns was to make sure I didn't hook up with someone that would want to change me from who and what I am or stop me from being myself. Sure, I have room for improvement and that's fine, but I am also outspoken, assertive, loquacious and lots of other qualities that you may not think a slave should possess. (Watch out, many of us are just as I am!)

So my sense of self is totally intact and actually always improving with encouragement from my Master. I am a slave, but I am also me. There is nothing confusing about it.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Leather,

On the weekend of May 16 - 18 smOdyssey, Inc. (a 501c7 not-for-profit org) will be producing a brand new event called "Northwest Leather Celebration" (NWLC). The primary venue for NWLC is a full-service luxury hotel in the San Jose area. Everyone is welcome at NWLC! We are hoping that this event will grow to provide a favorite annual gathering place for all the leather tribes.

This event will also be the new host of the annual Northwest Master/slave contest. This contest is open to all orientations and genders. Originally this contest was held at smOdyssey's annual September FolsomFringe event in San Jose, CA, but we heard and heeded our neighbors throughout the Leather community who asked that the contest date be moved to a date that would not conflict with the "high holy days" of San Francisco leather (SF Folsom Street Fair week).

It is our hope that in moving the date of this contest and creating a brand new event at which to host it, we will make it possible for a more diverse cross-section of our community to support the event by attending and participating in it.

The Northwest Leather Celebration event will feature a lot of nightlife! The Friday evening "Meet & Greet" will be at Renegades Leather Bar in San Jose, CA (approx. 5 miles from the host hotel). There will be play parties on both Friday and Saturday night at our local community dungeon, Edges (also approx 5 miles from the host hotel). In addition, the popular SouthBay women's bar, Club Savoy is less than 2 miles from the hotel hotel.

Saturday's activities will include educational seminars throughout the entire day, a catered step-down luncheon for the outgoing Northwest regional Master/slave titleholders, and of course the contest pageant and show early on Saturday evening! Sunday will feature a catered brunch and keynote speech by slave ziggy, International slave 2006.

The NWLC website is under construction, but new content is being added on a daily basis. Online registration opens soon, and admission will also be available at the door (but early birds get a $10 discount!) We hope to see as many kink community members in attendance at the event as possible so we are striving to keep costs low.

Sponsorships, advertising and other opportunities for active support are available. We welcome involvement from every group in any way they might be willing. Please help spread the word. Everyone's participation is encouraged because this event is for us all!

What does a collar mean to you?

I've recently been collared and released recently. I have been collared once before to a Master I had for many years. My recent Master asked me what it meant to wear a collar. Stressing the physical aspect of the experience as well as the psychological and emotional. He pointed out that I don't need to wear a collar to be collared. So, what does the physical act of wearing a collar mean to you?

When he says, "You are mine. I own you." I believe him. When I sit at his feet as he eats, I am in heaven. Yet when he puts a collar around my neck something special happens. The parts of myself that are usually reserved can no longer be. The tactile feeling of having his collar reminds me that I am no longer a girl, I am his girl. I look in the mirror and see it and it reminds me of my place. He tugs at it and I am instantly put where I should be. I am property. His property. All this would be true without the collar, but it is a physical manifestation of his ownership, of his love. And of my love and worship as well. It's like wearing your boyfriend's jacket. It's a symbol of pride, truth and commitment. "Yes I am a slave." It says to those who know the language. I am home. I am safe. I am his.

So i'm curious since this group seems to be just waking up again--why ARE you here? Are you looking for a slave? Are you a slave looking for a Master? Are you here to just contribute information (like me)? Who all is awake in this tribe?

For me, being part of tribes like this keeps me informed and gives me a chance to inform. Master and i live in a small community where we are probably the only M/s couple for miles and miles. Tribe and yahoo groups give me the opportunity to not feel quite so alone. It helps me make some great connections, too.

i met my Master over 5 years ago after a last ditch effort putting an ad on yahoo. i'm not sure that can be done now with being specific and searching for a Dominant but it worked for us at the time. i've learned a LOT since then about meeting people.

i read the "slavery" post then took a few minutes to think about what to say and decided to take another approach rather than tell someone how to advertise themselves.

One idea is that i am hoping any Masters in this tribe might describe what qualities they seek in a slave. i could list them myself but it would be better coming from some D-types so newbies don't think i'm full of crap (although they may think that anyway).

It's really disturbing to me that there is such a misconception, and seems to be really strong in men that fantasize, that slaves are just creatues locked up, don't have to make decisions and merely await the sexual pleasure of their Masters/Mistresses. How can we inform the general public that this sort of idea is something great for an evening of role-play but someone that calls themselves a slave has probably really never been "locked up" and "used".

Every slave i know spends a hell of a lot of time doing forms of service that have nothing to do with sex at all.

i look forward to some help on this subject. Now i believe Master's coffee cup is about ready to be empty. Good thing i'm not locked up or i could please him by refilling it.

My whole family knows about my M/s relationship--my (adult) children, my mom, brother even my 82 year old aunt (who says it's swinging but that's okay).

My employer and many co-workers know that i'm not exactly vanilla but they are so who knows what they think. i couldn't lose my job over my sexual preferences but that's just the kind of job i have. Might be different if i had a job that worked with kids or something.

Stages of Surrender

Almost exactly 8 months ago I was collared as a 24/7 slave to a wonderful owner. It has been a journey of ups and downs, and I feel like there has been a distinct cycle. I am curious if others have felt this, and it might be something good for those thinking of becoming slaves as well.

Stage One: Immediatly after being collared my life seemed like what I had always imagined. I have had thoughts about being a slave since I was young, probably around 12-13 years old. Everything seemed perfect, I fell into a routine of service, and I felt like I was complete. I didn't think too much about the life I left behind (I relocated over 1000 miles to be with him.) I felt like things were perfect and I was in a state of extacy.

Stage Two: Just a few months after being here, I started having immence feelings of guilt. I felt guilty about leaving everything behind, I felt guilty for living the lifestyle. It seemed that even though it was everything I had wanted, the lifestyle went against everything I leaned about life growing up. I didn't understand that this was my life, and being a slave was what was right for me. All I could think about was how society felt about the term. I thought that I was doing something wrong...I felt guilty for embracing my sexuality, for calling myself property, for letting someone "own" me. I even went as far as to ask for release becuase the guilt became unbearable. Lucky for me I found a patient master and he helped me through these hard time.

Stage Three: Acceptance. Once I finally accepted my life as a slave, I have been able to embrace the feelings I had during stage one. I have found that I can have everything I have ever wanted or desired, and I am truely happy. I am happiest when serving my Master, I am happiest when I he tells me I have been a good girl. I am happiest kneeling at his feet and when he pets me. I know that I am a slave, I always have been.

Now, I know there is still a lifetime ahead of me, and I know that I love where I am at right now. Tell me what you think? If you are a slave, did you have similar feelings? If you are thinking of becoming a slave, do you think you can make it through the hard times? It can be hard, thats for sure, but if being a slave is what you really want, life is great when you come out the other side.

passively asking

My Daddy says that I need to work on passively asking. Which means he wants me to start asking for what I want, instead of mentioning something in passing.

So How do I ask what I want?

Furthermore, how do I ask for more? I want him to expect more of me, ask more of me, control me more. But I am afraid of asking for too much too soon.

I mean the small stuff he has asked of me has been something of a small problem because it is changing who I am.

Such as - He requires me to wear a skirt when I am with him and my hair down. Also he requires me to wear no panties when I am with him. Plus shave. But I dont have a problem with the shaving since I do already.

"Out of the box submissives" Question from other thread

Okay here is my question.... I don't see myself as an "out of the box submissive" but I do know I tend to get into a dynamic way before it is reasonable. To me after the fact I will say that I felt pulled into it. The energy draws me like a moth to a flame. I am selective though with who I will submit to and it is never because a person says they are a Dominant that I will submit. But recently I realized I go into the dynamic too fast because I crave it so much. I see little things that I feel are "right" and let myself go deeper with the person. Ultimately I get hurt and at times pretty deeply. The reason is because I have not gotten to know the person and all I have done is cling to the energy. And that energy can be good or not so good but it is like at the hint of the energy I start to hope.

Another thing about this is that even when I go "quickly" into things it is typically very intense. I also think I have a little bit of the "I want it all now" problem that I need to work on too.

I am getting better I can say that. This last experience showed me a lot - both good and bad. I hurt but I also am glad it happened because my growth through the very short period of time was incredible. I wish I could make better choices though. And the other issue is that once I start to get closer to that flame, I see less of the stuff that would be red flags. Or I see them but the flame is brighter and more fascinating and I so want to believe in the person.

*sigh* Okay so I guess my question to anyone is how normal is this want and the stupid side of me that stops being reasonable when I start to enter a dance? Does this make me a psycho that Masters/Dominants should avoid? And if so will that mean that I will continue to draw the ones that I have been who are not as well matched to meet the basic core level of things that I need in a dynamic? I think part of my problems stem from how valuable I see myself to be (which is pretty low but mixed too).

There are a lot of questions that come from this but for now I will leave it at that.

how to get past the fear

Someone recently told me that one major thing that holds me back from belonging completely to him is that I can't let go. I think too much. I just can't let go, relax and stop worrying.

So how do you let go of yesterday? How do you release and trust that you wont be hurt, that you will be loved, that you wont be used, that you will be wanted. I mean completely. I can do it up to a certain point, but logic overrides everything else. Then I feel guilty because everyone says "well they aren't the one" or " you just aren't submissive enough" . If I have to hear those two things again, I swear I shall scream!

What is submissive enough? I dont top from the bottom, I am not disrespectful. I am not rude or mean. I am honest, forthright and considerate. Kind, compassionate and obedient to a fold.

okay. i have some questions. i might be asking these questions of a few different tribes, so if you see a similar posting elsewhere, i am not a form letter. i'm just not sure where to turn.
i'm a serial monogamist. i've had some fun in the polyamory communities of a few different cities, but a sexual connection isn't really satisfying to me unless it's an element in an unfolding mythology between two devoted symbiotes. two equal partners, bound by trust, committed to going "all the way", capable of anything because we "have each other's backs", as it were. even under these conditions, most of my relationships have left me wanting more, or something Other. when i've been close to feeling complete, it's been with women who offer themselves up utterly to a (seemingly) endless series of roles, scenes, games, psychodramas, degradations and demonstrations of their rightful place...as my property.
this hasn't ever been the contract at the beginning of these relationships. that's just where love seems to go, when i fall in love, until just before some point of no return, where we'll have to openly admit that master and servant isn't some game we're playing when the blinds are drawn. i am in fact her master. she is in fact my servant. just before this threshold is crossed, on three different occasions (3 different women, 3 different relationships,...), my lovers have experienced a flood of repressed abuse memories from childhood. revelation. breakdown. denial. re-repression. breakup. it's not a pretty pattern. i still love those women, in my heart of hearts. when i think back, i still feel this mixture of betrayal for the sudden ending of our experimentation, and guilt for having left so much burning wreckage where there used to be deep telepathy.
so, it would seem i'm inclined towards domination. it would seem that the absolute, boundary-smashing love my secret soul hungers for will only be achieved if me and my future symbiote step into the experiment with our eyes wide open.
but i don't know where to begin.
i'm not schooled in the etiquettes of the bdsm community. when i make the scene, i feel like there's some secret language being used of which i know the vocabulary, but its grammar is mysterious. i'm not really interested in bondage/spanking/etc., per se. it's the psychoprogramming and the absolute surrender of a ravishing and complex living doll who worships every nuance of her master's being that i miss. i miss it like childhood, even though i've only really tasted that surrender in fits and starts, with girls who grew suddenly, violently nostalgic for the "normal" place where our relationships began.
